The 27th running of the Lincoln Trail Classic took place Saturday, September 20, 2003 as part of the festivities surrounding the annual Autumn Fest in Marshall, Illinois. Marshall mayor John Trefz started the race by firing the starter pistol at 8:30 a.m. The over-all male and female winners were Jon Williams, of Lawrenceville, Illinois with a time of 18:03 and Sue Henry, of Marshall, Illinois with a time of 20:02. The winners were presented a gold medal and a gift certificate from Pacesetter Sports.

Over 60 runners registered for the 5K (3.1 mile) course that ran through the city streets of Marshall.
